Nick Llewellyn

Company Director, NLP Trainer and theatre director

As founder and Artistic Director/ CEO of learning disabled and autistic theatre company, Access All Areas I have built a whole range of educational and creative programmes devising and directing cutting edge performances whilst strategically managing the direction of Access All Areas.  The Performance Making Diploma in partnership with the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama won the Guardian University Award for Student Diversity in 2015 and many of the graduates have gone on to perform professionally through the agency and performance company programmes.

This includes playing the TV regular ‘Jason’ in BBC's Holby City and Cian Binchy’s ‘The Misfit Analysis’ UK theatre tour which The New York Times reviewed as ‘Informative, quirky and funny.' See here. I have also been a trainer and consultant for various TV programmes such as C4 'Hollyoaks,' BBC 'Dinosaur,' ITV 'Ralph and Katie,' Netflix 'I used to be famous' and for Sky's Writers Lab.

I recently wrote and produced 16 training films in partnership with Mencap and the National Autistic Society as part of the Oliver McGowan mandatory tier 2 training in learning disability and autism for all English NHS staff. Click here to learn more.

I also have first hand experience of being a carer to my sister who has multiple rare disorders due to negligent spine surgery at Cardiff and Vale hospitals. I’ve travelled the world in search of a diagnosis, consulted with over 80 consultants and I have first hand knowledge of how communication can break down within professional relationships. I have also supported my sister in a judicial review at the high court and numerous complaints against poor treatment to the GMC and United Nations.  Two years ago my dear mum was misdiagnosed and later died at East Kent Hospitals and have recently been involved in a painful inquest process to get answers.

I’m skilled in assisting groups to clearly articulate their needs and build confidence with professionals. I’m fully aware of the needs of carers and the confidence and self esteem that is lost due to their own loss of life and identity. This is why I wanted to develop this exciting company to offer combined skills to carers to get our lives back!

I have an MA Performance Making, BA (hons) Drama and Education and I’m a Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming. I’ve trained with forum theatre pioneer Augusto Boal and NLP pioneer Richard Bandler and I’m a fellow of both the Clore Cultural Leadership and the School for Social Entrepreneurs training programmes.

Here's a little video about my journey here made during lockdown:
